i installed gentoo
only took about seven tries.
to preface, i'm an xfce calamares installer gooeytard that only opens the terminal to install/update software and to do utterly banal things like change the ascii art of fastfetch to inu sakuya. i installed my gintoo on a laptop i don't use as some sort of challenge. It came to me in a dream, probably.
i don't know if it will help anyone, but here's a couple things Tony's tutorial didn't tell me:
use nmtui to get internet on the livecd, if it isn't already connected. you really have to read the handbook closely even though there's going to be a lot of stuff that isn't necessarily relevant to you because they prepare for every option users could want.
the dhcpcd setup Tony did was confusing and it brokey my internet on the first install. i stuck with networkmanager.
neofetch is GAY. use fastfetch!
Also, I have to learn how to use dwm now, which I'm barely getting the hang of at the moment. I got Prism Launcher working, running minecraft with multiple browser tabs open uses only like 18% memory lalwtf
when i had windows 11 on this machine a few years ago I would idle a minimum 25% memory usage with nothing open. god windows is so gay.
